Draven Build, Runes and Counters in the Bot Lane · Patch 26.20

the Glorious Executioner

Patch 26.20 · Stats from the 26.18 Master+ sample (3,469 games).

Draven, the Glorious Executioner, earns Adoration for every Spinning Axe he catches and cashes it in as gold on a champion kill. Lethal Tempo was the keystone on nearly all counted Master+ Dravens, and Hubris opened both his most-bought and his best-winning path.

Counter plan — how to beat Draven

  • Close the gap early — it wins at range and at three items — neither before ten minutes

  • Punish the cooldown — Draven is exposed while its rotation is down

  • Ward the flank — vision is what turns its best opening into a worse one

  • Respect the spike — Riot rates the kit 8/10, so a practised player gets more out of it than the average

  • Trade on your terms — take the fight where its damage lands on nobody

Ability details

  • P

    League of Draven

Draven gains his fans' Adoration when he catches a Spinning Axe or kills a minion, monster, or tower. Killing enemy champions grants Draven bonus gold based on how much Adoration he has.

    Passive — never cast

  • Q

    Spinning Axe

Draven's next attack will deal bonus physical damage. This axe will ricochet off the target high up into the air. If Draven catches it, he automatically readies another Spinning Axe. Draven can have two Spinning Axes at once.

  • W

    Blood Rush

Draven gains increased Move Speed and Attack Speed. The Move Speed bonus decreases rapidly over its duration. Catching a Spinning Axe will refresh the cooldown of Blood Rush.

    Cost 40/35/30/25/20 ManaCooldown 12sRange 1000

  • E

    Stand Aside

Draven throws his axes, dealing physical damage to targets hit and knocking them aside. Targets hit are slowed.

  • R

    Whirling Death

Draven hurls two massive axes to deal physical damage to each unit struck. Whirling Death slowly reverses direction and returns to Draven after striking an enemy champion. Draven may also activate this ability while the axes are in flight to cause it to return early. Deals less damage for each unit hit and resets when the axes reverse direction. Executes enemies who have less health than Draven's number of Adoration stacks.

Draven balance history

Riot's notes from patch 25.S1.1 to 26.20 change Draven in 6 patches. The latest is patch 26.19, published 2026-09-22.

  1. Patch 26.192026-09-22

    Base Stats

    • Attack Damage62to64
    Why, in Riot's words

Since all bot laners received significantly increased gold income thanks to role quests, Draven's potential to gain a gold advantage through his Adoration stacks has lost some of its impact. We're giving him a helping hand (axe?) by tapping up his early game damage.

  2. Patch 26.132026-06-23

    EStand Aside

    • Cooldown18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14sto16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12s

    RWhirling Death

    • Damage Reduction on Enemy Hit-8% multiplicatively, down to 40% (at 11 hits)to-5%, down to a minimum of 50% (at 14 hits)
    Why, in Riot's words

As the marksman meta has evolved around crit, on-hit, and caster builds, Draven has fallen behind. We're buffing his heavy-AD pattern instead of trying to redirect his itemization.

  3. Patch 26.32026-02-03

    Base Stats

    • AD Growth3to3.4
    Why, in Riot's words

Draven's Q was initially bugged to deal less damage at the start of the season, which was micropatched within the first week. Players are also trying Essence Reaver over Bloodthirster, which currently performs worse. After accounting for all of these factors, Draven's still not doing as well as he was last year, so we're coming to prop him back up by reverting one of our preemptive pre-season nerfs.

  4. Patch 26.12026-01-07

    Base Stats

    • AD Growth3.6to3

    WBlood Rush

    • Attack Speed30/35/40/45/50%to20/25/30/35/40%
    Why, in Riot's words

Draven is very auto-attack focused and averages about two crit items per game, so he's also in need of some compensation. Considering he's gaining direct auto-attack DPS, we're trying to compensate him directly on the same axis.

  5. Patch 25.192025-09-23

    WBlood Rush

    • Attack Speed20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%to30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%

    RWhirling Death

    • Damage175 / 275 / 375 (110 / 130 / 150% Bonus AD)to200 / 300 / 400 (110 / 130 / 150% Bonus AD)
    Why, in Riot's words

Draven has a bit of room for buffs in regular play and is completely missing from pro. We're giving him a little power this patch to see if he can make it back into the spotlight.

  6. Patch 25.062025-03-18

    PLeague of Draven

    • Draven no longer gains 2 Bonus Adoration stacks for every 6 kills
    Why, in Riot's words

Draven has been making the Noxus season his, and it's been a bit painful for those unfortunate enough to go up against him. We think his damage is in a good place, but his snowballing in higher skill brackets is getting out of hand, so we're looking to remove one of the more niche mechanics within his passive.

Riot's tips for Draven

Playing Draven

  • If Draven doesn't move, Spinning Axe will fall near his present location. It will fall directly on him, or just to the right or left.
  • If Draven does move after attacking, Spinning Axe will lead him in the direction of his movement. Use this to control where the Spinning Axe will go.

Playing against Draven

  • Launch skillshots toward the landing position of Draven's Spinning Axes.
  • Disrupt Draven with the goal of making him drop his axes. If you do, his power drops dramatically.

Draven's story

In Noxus, warriors known as Reckoners face one another in arenas where blood is spilled and strength tested—but none has ever been as celebrated as Draven. A former soldier, he found that the crowds uniquely appreciated his flair for the dramatic, and his unparalleled skill with his spinning axes. Addicted to the spectacle of his own brash perfection, Draven has sworn to defeat whomever he must to ensure that his name is chanted throughout the empire forever more.

Methodology

Data window
Preview sample — a one-time snapshot of 65,406 ranked games (Master+, EUW/KR/NA, patch 26.18), counted by GamGem while our Riot production key is under review. Figures will update daily once it is approved. Counted 26–27 Sept 2026; patches 26.18 (35,477) · 26.19 (18,580) · 26.17 (11,048) · 26.16 (293) · 26.15 (8); by server EUW 22,382 · KR 21,922 · NA 21,065 · EUNE 20 · TR 17. 642 games without a result — remakes ended by vote in their first minutes, and games recorded with no winner — were not counted.
Rank aggregation
Master, Grandmaster and Challenger, pooled — the three ladders the count read its players from. Splitting further leaves samples too small to separate a real effect from noise.
Role assignment
A champion is filed under every lane that holds at least a tenth of its counted games — the position the match itself reports, not the champion’s class. Its headline win rate is across all of them; each lane’s own win rate and games are counted too, and a lane’s tier list ranks by them.
Counters
The two champions in the same position on opposite teams, over that pairing’s own counted games — ranked on the edge pulled toward zero by its sample size, printed raw.
Minimum sample
None — no figure is hidden for being thin. Every rate prints its games, and the confidence band is its 95% margin: Very High within ±1.5 points, High ±2.5, Moderate ±3.1 (1,000 games), Low wider.
Why a build is not a cause
An item is counted when the match ENDS with it, so late items show long games and an item bought when already ahead shows games that were being won. Correlation is what a rate can show; it is not evidence that buying the item caused the win.
Where the numbers come from
Names, classes, abilities, items and runes are Riot Data Dragon. Win, pick and ban rates, builds, keystones, spells and matchups are counted by GamGem from Riot's ranked match records. An estimate, not a count: this panel is not in the preview sample, and is labelled so.
