The short version#
GamGem sets no cookies of its own, and analytics cookies stay off until you turn them on.
- There is no advertising, and I do not sell anyone’s data.
- What you save, such as favourites, checklists and preferences, stays in your browser and I never receive it. The list of everything GamGem can save is checked against the site’s code, so it cannot quietly fall behind.
- Google Analytics counts page views without cookies, and adds cookies only if you allow them.
- Twitch and YouTube load only when you open a live stream or press play on a trailer, and they set their own cookies.
Who is responsible#
One person runs GamGem, and you can write to them directly.
GamGem is published by me, Nugzari Kochiashvili, and I live in England. Under UK data protection law I am the “controller” of the personal data described on this page, which means I decide why and how it is used.
Write to nugokochiashvili@gmail.com or nugikochiashvili@gmail.com. Either address reaches me.
What stays in your browser#
Your saved items live on your device, and I never receive them.
GamGem remembers things by writing to your browser’s local storage, not to cookies and not to a server. It is used for what you asked the site to remember, and for nothing else.
The panel at the top of this page shows what is stored right now and lets you remove any of it. Your browser’s own settings can clear it too.

| Whether you allowed analytics cookies | Your consent choice | gg:consent:analytics |
Cookies. GamGem sets none of its own while you read. There are two exceptions, both under your control: Google Analytics cookies, only if you allow them, and nothing else. Twitch and YouTube set their own cookies when you open their players, and Cloudflare, which hosts the site, sets a security cookie only on a browser it has asked to pass a check.
Analytics#
Google Analytics sets cookies only if you allow them; without them it receives a cookieless ping.
Google Analytics is off until you say yes. On your first visit a banner asks, and “yes” and “no” carry the same weight. You can change your answer at any time with the switch at the top of this page. If you say yes, Google Analytics sets two cookies and reports how the site is used.
If you say no, or have not answered, Google Analytics still receives a cookieless ping when a page loads. It carries the page address and the technical details every web request carries, including your IP address, and nothing is stored on your device. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
On live-stream pages a small event is sent about once a minute while the tab is visible, so the site can show how many people are watching. It names the game and the channel, and nothing about you.
I use analytics to see which pages work and which are slow. I do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Other companies involved#
Each of these companies sees something, and here is what and when.
| Company | What it receives | When | Its own notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the site and protects it. Like any web host it receives each request: your IP address, your browser, the page you asked for and the time. If a browser sends an unusual burst of requests, Cloudflare may ask it to pass a quick check, which leaves a security cookie (cf_clearance) on that browser only. | Every visit | Read it |
| Google Analytics | A cookieless ping with each page load. Cookies only if you allow them. | Every visit | Read it |
| Twitch | Its player loads and sets its own cookies. | Only on a live-stream page | Read it |
| YouTube | A thumbnail loads from its image server, which sees your IP address. The player itself loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play. | Pages with a trailer | Read it |
| RAWG | Game covers and screenshots load from its image server, which sees your IP address and browser details. No cookies are set. | Pages with game art | Read it |
| Riot Games | League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics art loads from its image server, which sees your IP address and browser details. No cookies are set. | Pages with that art | Read it |
None of them receives what is saved in your browser. Each company’s own notice is the authoritative account of what it does.
Why I may use your data#
UK law requires a reason for each use of personal data, and these are mine.
| What I do | Data involved | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Serve pages and keep the site secure | Your IP address and browser details, as any web request carries them | Legitimate interests: running a secure website |
| Google Analytics cookies | Cookie identifiers and how you use the site | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Answer your email | What you write to me | Legitimate interests: replying to you |
How long I keep it#
Only as long as each thing is needed.
- Saved in your browser: until you remove it. I cannot see it, so I cannot delete it for you.
- Cloudflare’s request logs: for the periods in Cloudflare’s own notice. I do not copy or keep them myself.
- Google Analytics reports: for the retention period set in the Google Analytics property.
- Emails you send me: as long as it takes to deal with your message and anything that follows from it, then I delete them.
Your rights#
You can see, correct, delete or take your data, and object to how it is used.
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:
- tell you what personal data I hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong, or delete it;
- restrict how I use it, or stop using it where I rely on legitimate interests;
- give you what you provided in a form you can take elsewhere.
You can also withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time, with the switch at the top of this page. That does not affect anything done before you withdrew.
Most of this you can do yourself: the panel at the top of this page covers your browser. For anything else, write to me and I will answer within one month.
I make no decisions about you by automated means. You do not have to give me any personal data to read GamGem.
If you think I have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office or, if you live in the EU, to your local data protection authority. I would rather hear from you first.
Children#
GamGem covers games many young people play, so it is built to ask them for as little as possible.
Analytics cookies are off until someone turns them on, and I do not build advertising profiles. Nobody has to give me personal data to read GamGem.
If you are under 18 and unsure about anything here, ask a parent or carer, or write to me.
Data outside the UK#
Some of the companies above are based in the United States.
Cloudflare and Google are US companies, and other providers listed above may process data there too. Where personal data leaves the UK, it does so under the safeguards those companies document; Cloudflare, for example, relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Each company’s notice, linked in the table above, is the place to read the detail.
Advertising#
GamGem shows no advertising today.
There are no ad networks and no advertising cookies on GamGem. If that changes, I will update this policy first, add an entry to the version history, and ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set.
Keeping it safe#
Data is kept to a minimum and sent over HTTPS.
GamGem is served over HTTPS. If a breach put your rights at risk, I would tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office, as the law requires.
Changes and version history#
Material changes are announced here, dated, with what changed.
When this policy changes in a way that matters to you, such as a new company involved or a new use of data, I will say so on this page and add an entry below. The date at the top always matches the newest entry.
Version 1.1
The site moved from Vercel to Cloudflare. Cloudflare now hosts and protects it and appears in the list of companies involved; Vercel and its cookieless page-view and page-speed counters are gone.
Version 1.0
First full policy. It replaces a short placeholder that described what the site did without saying why, for how long or who else was involved.
