The Unsundered

Patch 26.20 · Stats from the 26.18 Master+ sample (2,531 games).

Zaahen, The Unsundered, stacks Determination on champions for attack damage and pulls enemies toward him with Dreaded Return. Master+ played him Top in most games, on Conqueror more than Grasp of the Undying, with Trinity Force into Stridebreaker the path bought most. K'Sante and Fiora beat him most often. Counter plan — how to beat Zaahen

  • Avoid extended fights — its sustain grows with every trade it survives

  • Punish the cooldown — Zaahen is exposed while its rotation is down

  • Ward the flank — vision is what turns its best opening into a worse one

  • Respect the spike — Riot rates the kit 2/10, so a practised player gets more out of it than the average

  • Trade on your terms — take the fight where its damage lands on nobody

Zaahen balance history

Riot's notes from patch 25.S1.1 to 26.20 change Zaahen in 5 patches. The latest is patch 26.18, published 2026-09-09.

  1. Patch 26.182026-09-09

    QThe Darkin Glaive

    • NEW Cooldown Behavior: If Q is active, it is now placed on Cooldown immediately upon being put in Resurrection
    • Q2 Damage25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 (+20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% bonus AD)to30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% bonus AD)
    Why, in Riot's words

We're using a QoL change here as an opportunity to give Zaahen some love! This might read as a nerf, but Zaahen's Q lined up with his passive in such a way that it meant he always left his resurrection (and GA, Zilean R) with Q on CD, so now he's always happier. His Q2 is also a clean double of his Q1 base damage now.

  2. Patch 26.132026-06-23

    WDreaded Return

    • Cooldown16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12to14 / 13.5 / 13 / 12.5 / 12
    Why, in Riot's words

Zaahen is already seeing more play across audiences, so we're giving him more room to fish for his early trade patterns and engage in mid game skirmishes without raising his scaling ceiling.

  3. Patch 26.62026-03-17

    WDreaded Return

    • Secondary Damage40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 (+ 50% bonus AD)to30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+ 30% bonus AD)

    EAureate Rush

    • Bonus Damage to Monsters75to50
    Why, in Riot's words

Zaahen has caught on as one of the strongest top laners and junglers in the game. In our view his jungle performance is farther over the line, so we're delivering some nerfs with a moderate jungle skew to them. His W is more core to his ganking than it is to his laning, and this E nerf is jungle-skewed and will reduce his ability to create and react to pressure early on.

  4. Patch 26.32026-02-03

    QThe Darkin Glaive

    • Monster Modifier1.75xto2x

    EAureate Rush

    • Bonus Monster Damage50to75
    Why, in Riot's words

Zaahen was meant to have a secondary player base in the jungle and while he's great in the top lane, he's not performing well enough elsewhere. So we're delivering some straightforward jungle-specific buffs to bring him back up where he was at the end of last year.

  5. Patch 25.242025-12-02

    PCultivation of War

    • Bonus AD per Stack (25.23)1.5-3.3 (based on level)to1.5-2.8 (based on level)

    QThe Darkin Glaive

    • AD Ratio (25.23)30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70% bonus ADto20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60% bonus AD
    • Second Cast Base Damage (25.23)30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150to25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 125
    • Cooldown (25.24)9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5to10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6
    • Monster Damage Modifier (25.24)50%to75%

    EAureate Rush

    • Sweet Spot Damage (25.24)4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8%to4 / 4.5 / 5 /5.5 / 6%
    Why, in Riot's words

These changes went out as a micropatch during 25.23, but we wanted to capture them here for posterity and offer some thoughts on how we think Zaahen's release went. For 25.23, overall Zaahen released a bit too strong. His damage was a bit high and had room to go down while still feeling satisfying, so we decided to target that over other parts of his kit. We're being cautious here, so we're taking a little more time to see how he settles before we make additional changes, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled and will make additional changes as needed. Now we’re at 25.24 and Zaahen is still a bit strong, particularly in higher ranks, so we’ve got some skill skewed changes here which should bring him down a bit. We also want to compensate his jungle a bit as we expect it to lose some power as a result of these changes, so we’re upping his Q’s monster damage mod.

Methodology

Data window
Preview sample — a one-time snapshot of 65,406 ranked games (Master+, EUW/KR/NA, patch 26.18), counted by GamGem while our Riot production key is under review. Figures will update daily once it is approved. Counted 26–27 Sept 2026; patches 26.18 (35,477) · 26.19 (18,580) · 26.17 (11,048) · 26.16 (293) · 26.15 (8); by server EUW 22,382 · KR 21,922 · NA 21,065 · EUNE 20 · TR 17. 642 games without a result — remakes ended by vote in their first minutes, and games recorded with no winner — were not counted.
Rank aggregation
Master, Grandmaster and Challenger, pooled — the three ladders the count read its players from. Splitting further leaves samples too small to separate a real effect from noise.
Role assignment
A champion is filed under every lane that holds at least a tenth of its counted games — the position the match itself reports, not the champion’s class. Its headline win rate is across all of them; each lane’s own win rate and games are counted too, and a lane’s tier list ranks by them.
Counters
The two champions in the same position on opposite teams, over that pairing’s own counted games — ranked on the edge pulled toward zero by its sample size, printed raw.
Minimum sample
None — no figure is hidden for being thin. Every rate prints its games, and the confidence band is its 95% margin: Very High within ±1.5 points, High ±2.5, Moderate ±3.1 (1,000 games), Low wider.
Why a build is not a cause
An item is counted when the match ENDS with it, so late items show long games and an item bought when already ahead shows games that were being won. Correlation is what a rate can show; it is not evidence that buying the item caused the win.
Where the numbers come from
Names, classes, abilities, items and runes are Riot Data Dragon. Win, pick and ban rates, builds, keystones, spells and matchups are counted by GamGem from Riot's ranked match records. An estimate, not a count: this panel is not in the preview sample, and is labelled so.
