44 changes from World of Warcraft: Forever Class Deep Dives — Priest and Warrior, opened 2026-10-22. Updated 2026-10-22.

What Blizzard says this class is

Strengths. The most versatile healer: both heal-over-time and direct heals, plus the damage-absorbing shields no other healer has. Shadow brings strong damage-over-time.

Limits. Cloth only and few ways to escape enemies, so Priests lean on friends for tanking and control. Shadow lacks the full utility of a Warlock.

How is the WoW Forever Priest different from Classic Era?

Classic Era → Forever
  • Fear Ward and Devouring Plague depended on the Priest's race.

Fear Ward and Devouring Plague are baseline at level 20 for every Priest.

  • Divine Spirit was a Discipline talent.

    Baseline at level 30.

  • Prayer of Healing healed the Priest's own party.

Heals the party of the target.

  • Weapon Skill on gear.

Weapon Skill items are severely cut and racials no longer give weapon skill; Expertise, as in The Burning Crusade, takes over.

  • Hit and Critical Strike were separate for melee, ranged and spells.

They apply to melee, ranged and spell alike.
