Blizzard’s addon developers say Forever shares retail’s UI architecture and most 12.1.5 APIs, with Midnight’s limits on top. Every line below links to its source.
What Blizzard has said about addons in WoW Forever, how to install one, and a short list of addons whose own pages say they work with Forever. Nothing here is tested by us; every line links to the page it comes from.
Yes, but with restrictions in step with retail, according to Kami Labs; read Blizzard’s own addon rules before relying on a specific addon. Warcraft Wiki shows Forever addons can ship a _Forever.toc file, and no live Interface number is published yet. Which exact restrictions apply at launch is still open.

No premium versions with for-pay features, no charge to download, no charge for services related to the add-on.
Code may not be hidden or obfuscated and must be open to the public.
Blizzard decides at its sole discretion; examples are excessive chat use and slow frame rates.
Add-ons may not advertise goods or services.
Requests belong on the add-on’s own website, not in the game.
Nothing that the game’s “T” rating would not allow.
Add-ons must follow both.
At its sole discretion, to protect the game.
Download the addon from its page and extract the zip.
Open the Interface\AddOns folder of the Forever install (create it if it is missing).
Move the addon’s folder in, so that AddOns\NameOfAddon\NameOfAddon.toc exists.
Start the game; on the character-select screen press AddOns and check the addon is listed.
If it shows as out of date, tick “Load out of date AddOns” for that session.
<WoW install>\_classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns\NameOfAddon\NameOfAddon.tocThe .toc file must sit one level inside AddOns: AddOns\NameOfAddon\NameOfAddon.toc. A nested folder (NameOfAddon\NameOfAddon\…) after unzipping is a common reason it is not listed.
Nothing here is tested by us. Each card rests on the quote and proof link shown. Support is taken from each addon’s own page.

Changelog entries for 12.1.5 to 12.1.7 list Forever: guild bank supported, offline view working, Forever skins.
Classic Gear Compare, Crit Numbers, Aggro Alert, Alt Ledger, Scrolling Loot, Junk Cleaner and nine more, “remade for WoW: Forever”.
Version 0.9.4: HUD, leveling tracker and talent-path planner in one addon.
Blizzard’s addon developers wrote on 2026-09-15 that Forever shares Mainline WoW’s UI architecture, including the vast majority of the APIs of retail patch 12.1.5. They also wrote that the addon-disarmament changes introduced in Midnight, including secrets, will be active in Forever, and that the 12.1.0 aura-container changes will be available.
Since Midnight, addons can no longer read most combat data inside instances, which is the change behind the boss-mod and WeakAuras debate.
Beta 4 (2026-10-08, build 70291): trial accounts cannot send addon messages; sending an EMOTE through SendChatMessage needs a hardware event outside instances, like SAY and YELL; Forever became an accepted alias for Camelot in TOC suffixes.
Beta 5 (2026-10-16, build 70425): the server-ID and spawn-ID parts of creature, vehicle, pet and object GUIDs were replaced with obfuscated values so addons cannot tell layers apart. The Forever player, target and focus frames and the minimap header were reskinned, so addons that skin or anchor to them may need changes.
Nothing — every picked situation maps to a card.
Check you are on the right website before installing any executable.
A beta player reported that the Forever beta read addons from the _classic_beta_ folder and asked whether launch uses a new one. The thread has no Blizzard answer, so the folder name of the live game is not published.

In a TOC file the game type can be written forever (alias camelot), both as a file suffix (AddOnName_Forever.toc) and in the AllowLoadGameType and ExcludeLoadGameType directives. Because older clients do not know the type, the wiki advises also excluding the other game types.
