Act 5 · Patch 13.06
Deadlock — VALORANT's Hard-Stop Sentinel
Sentinel · Hard stop
To play Deadlock, throw Barrier Mesh across the main entry and stand behind it, then save GravNet — which forces anyone caught to crouch and move slowly — for the rush itself. Her ultimate, Annihilation, cocoons the first enemy it hits and drags them to death unless the cocoon is destroyed, which is how you escape it. Patch 13.00 cut GravNet's cooldown from 60s to 50s. Single-entry sites suit her.
Norwegian operative Deadlock deploys an array of cutting-edge nanowire to secure the battlefield from even the most lethal assault. No one escapes her vigilant watch, nor survives her unyielding ferocity.
Sentinels are defensive experts who can lock down areas and watch flanks, both on attacker and defender rounds.
Why we fit it where we do Single-entry sites let one mesh turn a rush into a walk.
The four
CBarrier MeshwallEQUIP a Barrier Mesh disc. FIRE to throw forward. Upon landing, the disc generates barriers from the origin point that block character movement.
QSonic SensortrapEQUIP a Sonic Sensor. FIRE to deploy. The sensor monitors an area for enemies making sound. It concusses that area if footsteps, weapons fire, or significant noise are detected. This ability can be picked up to be REDEPLOYED.
EGravNettrapEQUIP a GravNet grenade. FIRE to throw. ALT FIRE to lob. The GravNet detonates upon landing, forcing any characters caught within to crouch and move slowly.
XAnnihilationdamageEQUIP a Nanowire Accelerator. FIRE to unleash a pulse of nanowires that captures the first enemy contacted. The cocooned enemy is pulled along a nanowire path and will die unless they are freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible.

Deadlock balance history
Riot's notes from patch 1.01 to 13.06 change Deadlock in 4 patches. The latest is patch 13.00, published 2026-06-23.
Patch 13.002026-06-23
GravNet
- Cooldown reduced from 60s to 50s.
Why, in Riot's words
Sentinels serve an important role in the VALORANT tactical loop by punishing attackers who ignore macro strategy and instead opt for repeated, low information 5-player site hits. We believe VALORANT is best when strategy is mixed. These changes are aimed at improving overall Sentinel power so they can better serve their purpose in keeping disrespectful attackers honest, as well as improve their kill potential when anchoring sites alone.
Patch 11.082025-10-14
GravNet
- Cooldown increased from40sto60s
Barrier Mesh
- Cost reduced from 400 to 300
- Health of smaller nodes decreased from 570 to 480
Sonic Sensor
- Concuss duration reduced 3.5s to 2.5s
Why, in Riot's words
We're increasing the counterplay around Killjoy's range restricted utilities, giving enemies more tells to maneuver around unattended utilities and asking KJ to make a sharper call on when to keep her utility active and when to reposition away from them.
Patch 10.042025-03-04
Barrier Mesh
- Changed to a non-signature ability
- CostFreeto400 credits
GravNet
- Changed to a signature ability with 40s cooldown
- Total Size decreased from16mto13m
- Gravnet’s Projectile audio loop has been updated to increase its gameplay clarity.
Why, in Riot's words
To account for GravNet swapping to a signature, we’ll be shrinking the size and increasing some of its counterplay. Since the skill will be cast more frequently, we’d like to encourage plays to be more intentional and precise about placement.
Patch 7.102023-11-14
- Anyone caught by GravNet will now be debuffed indefinitely until they remove it
- GravNet removal time increased0.85sto1.5s
- GravNet radius increased6mto8m
Why, in Riot's words
GravNet (C) now requires anyone captured by it to manually remove the net in order to remove the effect. Before this, if you or the enemy were captured, you were able to remove it by moving out of the net radius or waiting for the effect to expire. We think this unlocks a unique power profile while making it a more interesting interaction on both sides, as enemies must put down their weapon and make a noise to deal with the debuff. In addition, we’ve made the ability more reliable for Deadlock to execute by increasing its radius while also ensuring that Agents like Jett and Raze can’t trivialize getting caught in it with their mobility.
Anyone caught by GravNet will now be affected by increased gravity and a reduction in mobility (example: GravNet now reduces Jett’s Tailwind (E) distance)
