Clove — VALORANT's Controller Who Smokes After Death
Controller · Self-sufficient smokes
Clove is the Controller who keeps smoking after dying: Ruse can still be cast from the death timer, and the ultimate, Not Dead Yet, resurrects Clove — but a kill or damaging assist must follow within a set time. Patch 12.05 cut a smoke cast while dead from 14 to 6 seconds and shrank Meddle from 6m to 4m. Mid-heavy maps suit the kit; our written situations use it on Haven, Ascent and Sunset.
Scottish troublemaker Clove makes mischief for enemies in both the heat of combat and the cold of death. The young immortal keeps foes guessing, even from beyond the grave, their return to the living only ever a moment away.
Controllers are experts in slicing up dangerous territory to set their team up for success.
Why we fit it where we do Mid-heavy maps reward a controller who can keep smoking after trading.

Patch 12.052026-03-17
Ruse
- Smoke duration 14s >> 6s (when casted while dead)
Meddle
- Area of effect reduced 6m >> 4m
Why, in Riot's words
These changes specifically target Clove’s outsized ability to help their team win even after death.
Patch 11.102025-11-11
Ruse
- Ruse charges are now restricted to 1 maximum when Clove is dead
Pick Me Up
- Overheal amount, while Pick Me Up is active, has been reduced from 100 HPto50 HP
Why, in Riot's words
