The guide in words

How growth works in Brawl Stars

Brawl Stars grows along two roads. The first is the roster: Supercell’s API lists 108 brawlers and the community wiki lists the same 108, checked on 2026-10-17. The second is power: each brawler you own can be raised from Power 1 to Power 11, one step at a time, with Coins and Power Points.

Neither road is a race, and this is GamGem’s own reading rather than a measurement. A new player with a single well-played brawler often does better than a collector whose brawlers sit unplayed, because a brawler only helps in the matches you actually take it into. The guide above is built around that idea: learn one mode, cover three roles, and upgrade the brawler you play most.

Power levels: what a full upgrade costs

Going from Power 2 to Power 11 takes 10 upgrades. Added together they cost 3,740 Power Points and 7,765 Coins, taken row by row from the wiki’s Power Points and Coins pages. The first step is cheap, and the last one alone is the largest, so most of the price sits in the final few levels.

Three extra abilities are locked behind Power. A Gadget opens at Power 7 for 1,000 Coins, a Star Power at Power 9 for 2,000 Coins, and a Hypercharge at Power 11 for 5,000 Coins. For a new player the practical lesson is to stop at the first gate that changes how a brawler plays and decide there whether the brawler deserves more.

Credits and Brawler Blast

Credits are the currency that opens a Brawler Blast. Supercell’s Release Notes August 2026, published 2026-09-01, replaced Starr Road with Brawler Blast. The wiki lists Blast costs by rarity, from 160 Credits for a Rare brawler up to 5,500 for Ultra.

Each opening gives Gem Fragments, between 1 and 17, and sometimes a choice of target. The wiki’s choice table reads: none 50%, 2 targets 28.57%, 3 targets 14.29%, 4 targets 7.14%. In plain words, half of the openings give you no say in the brawler, and the rest let you pick from two, three or four. That is why this page never promises a particular brawler from a Blast.

The roster behind a Blast is not even: the wiki counts 8 Rare, 10 Super Rare, 30 Epic, 43 Mythic, 14 Legendary and 2 Ultra brawlers, plus 1 starting brawler. Mythic is the biggest group, so a Mythic Blast has the most targets to land on.

Gears and Buffies

Gears are small stat boosts you equip. The first slot opens at Power 8 and the second at Power 10. Super Rare, Epic and Mythic Gears cost 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 Coins, according to the wiki’s Gears page.

The same wiki change history lists Gear removals from brawlers on 5 separate days, from 2025-12-16 to 2026-09-01. If a guide you read still lists a Gear that no longer exists, check its date first.

Buffies are the newer upgrade layer. They open at 1,000 Trophies, and the claw machine sells the Gadget, Star and Hyper Buffies for Coins and Power Points or for Gems. A new player can ignore them for the first weeks; a veteran should read the upgrade screen once.

Roles: tank, damage dealer and support

The wiki sorts the roster into seven classes: 21 Damage Dealers, 21 Controllers, 19 Assassins, 16 Tanks, 13 Supports, 11 Marksmen and 7 Artillery brawlers. For a first team, three of them are enough.

A Tank stands in front and takes hits, a Damage Dealer wins the fights, and a Support keeps the team alive. Shelly, Rosa and Poco are one of each, and GamGem rates all three as easy to learn. That rating is our own reading, not a measurement.

What changed on 2026-09-01

Supercell’s Release Notes August 2026 (2026-09-01) is the reference for four changes. Starr Road became Brawler Blast, "Ultra Legendary" became "Ultra", Cosmo and Vince joined as Mythic brawlers, and Hide & Seek was added. The store update that followed is Update 69: Royal Academy & Brawl-O-Ween, version 69.414, dated 2026-10-07.

The last balance maintenance the wiki lists is 2026-09-16. The first day this page tracks is 2026-01-23; if you left before that, treat the return translator as a starting point and read the old-versus-current table as well.

Ranked and the six modes

Ranked Season 50 started on 2026-10-15. The wiki gives the rule that seasons start on the third Thursday of a month, so the next start, 2026-11-19, is derived from that rule and not announced. Each of the six Ranked modes has its own map list, shown in the modes panel above.

If you are new, do not start in Ranked. Gem Grab and Brawl Ball teach the same habits with less pressure, and the brawler picks you make there carry over; the wiki lists 6 Ranked modes this season.

Spending safely

Five kinds of purchase appear in the Shop, and they differ in one way that matters: guarantee. A skin bundle and the Brawl Pass track are guaranteed. A Starr Drop and a Brawler Blast are random; the wiki prints the Starr Drop rarity table as Rare 50%, Super Rare 28%, Epic 15%, Mythic 5%, Legendary 2%.

GamGem’s spend-or-save check asks four questions: does it guarantee what you want, is any part random, does it expire soon, and can you earn the same thing free. Three of those answers should be favourable before you spend real money, and a timer alone is never a reason.

For parents and guardians

You do not need to play to help. GamGem suggests three steps: set store purchase approval on the phone or tablet, agree one spending rule with your child, and use the three questions on this page before any purchase: what is guaranteed, what is random, and what happens if you do not buy it.

Random rewards are the part most worth explaining. The wiki’s Starr Drop table and Supercell’s Blast notes both describe results that are decided when the reward opens, and buying more of them does not guarantee a specific item. For refunds, ask the store where the purchase was made; this page does not repeat a store’s policy because it changes.

Questions about the Brawl Stars guide

What changed in Brawl Stars recently?

Supercell’s Release Notes August 2026 (2026-09-01) replaced Starr Road with Brawler Blast and renamed Ultra Legendary to Ultra. The latest store update is version 69.414, dated 2026-10-07.

Which brawler should a new player start with?

Shelly is the starting brawler, and Rosa and Poco add a tank and a support. GamGem rates all three as easy to learn.

How much does a full upgrade cost?

Power 2 to 11 cost 3,740 Power Points and 7,765 Coins in total, according to the wiki. Gadgets, Star Powers and Hypercharges cost extra Coins.

Is Brawler Blast random?

Yes. A Blast costs 160 to 5,500 Credits by rarity, and you cannot choose the brawler in 50% of openings.

How can a parent stop overspending?

Turn on store purchase approval and agree one rule, such as asking before any real-money purchase. For refunds, ask the store where you bought it.
