Where a string comes from
- Your own, exported from the game’s talent window
- A guide’s — copy it there, check it here
- A GamGem link — it opens with the string pasted
Can I copy it into the game?
No string yetPaste your own loadout string to check it
Checked here, in this browser: the header the game reads first — version, spec ID, tree hash. Line by line in “Is it valid?”.
The game imports only Blizzard’s own string. A GamGem link holds it after “#”, which never reaches our server.

If the game says…
- “Bad string” —
- The text cannot be read as a loadout — a stray character, or a copy cut short.
- “Serialization version mismatch” —
- The first field is not the version the game writes now.
- “Wrong specialization” —
- The spec ID inside the string is not the spec you have active.
- “Tree changed” —
- The tree hash inside the string is not the live tree’s — the tree changed after the string was made.
- “Import failed” —
- The game could not apply the loadout.

My loadouts by situation
Nothing saved yet — three steps:
- Pick what you are preparing for, then your class, spec and hero tree.
- Paste the loadout string you use for it — from the game, a guide or a GamGem link.
- Name it in the summary card if you like, then press “+ Save current”.
A saved row keeps its string, hero tree and note: “Load” brings it back, “Compare” puts it beside the current loadout.

- Alphabet: A–Z a–z 0–9 + /. Six bits per character, no padding. Values are written low bit first and run across characters, so it is not byte-aligned Base64.
- Node order: Every node of the class’s whole tree — all of its specs included — in ascending node ID. Checked: Method’s four Holy Priest strings read to their last bit with it and write back identical.
- Zeroed hash: A site may write the hash as zeros; the game then skips its tree check, and may place the wrong talents if the tree has moved.
Why I built it this way ✎
Kept in this browser; “Save current” stores it with the loadout.
Ask about this build
Ask knows the points at 90, the gates, every Apex and hero pair, the 12.1 and 12.1.5 tree changes, your string’s header and any level of 81–90 — each answer shows the rows it read. It does not rank talents: no popularity or simulation.

Where sources disagree
- Discipline’s Apex name
- February’s Apex article says “Master of Darkness”; the 12.1 and 12.1.5 notes say “Master the Darkness” — the page follows the notes.
- Demon Hunter hero trees
- Warcraft Wiki lists Fel-Scarred and Void-Scarred as one tree; the 12.1.5 notes name Void-Scarred on its own — so each spec shows the names the notes use.
- Totals at 90
- No single source prints 34 / 13 / 34; they are added up from Blizzard’s and the wiki’s parts, and Raidbots’ data file agrees (class gate 23, Apex gate 20).

Midnight talents — quick answers
How many talent points do you get at level 90 in Midnight?
At 90: class 34, hero 13 and spec 34 points. Added up from 31 class and 30 spec points at the old cap, 10 hero points from 71–80, and 3 + 3 + 4 at 81–90 — no single source prints the totals.
What is inside a WoW talent loadout string?
A header — serialization version (8 bits), specialization ID (16 bits), tree hash (128 bits) — then a few bits for every node of the class’s whole tree, in node-ID order: selected, purchased, partly ranked, ranks bought, choice node and which choice. Six bits per character, no padding. Values are written low bit first and run across characters, so it is not byte-aligned Base64. The game writes version 2.
Which two hero talent trees can my spec pick?
Each spec chooses one of two, and the pair depends on the spec, not the class: Death Knight — Blood (Deathbringer or San’layn), Frost (Deathbringer or Rider of the Apocalypse), Unholy (Rider of the Apocalypse or San’layn); Demon Hunter — Havoc (Aldrachi Reaver or Fel-Scarred), Vengeance (Aldrachi Reaver or Annihilator), Devourer (Annihilator or Void-Scarred); Druid — Balance (Elune’s Chosen or Keeper of the Grove), Feral (Druid of the Claw or Wildstalker), Guardian (Druid of the Claw or Elune’s Chosen), Restoration (Keeper of the Grove or Wildstalker); Evoker — Devastation (Flameshaper or Scalecommander), Preservation (Chronowarden or Flameshaper), Augmentation (Chronowarden or Scalecommander); Hunter — Beast Mastery (Dark Ranger or Pack Leader), Marksmanship (Dark Ranger or Sentinel), Survival (Pack Leader or Sentinel); Mage — Arcane (Spellslinger or Sunfury), Fire (Frostfire or Sunfury), Frost (Frostfire or Spellslinger); Monk — Brewmaster (Master of Harmony or Shado-Pan), Mistweaver (Conduit of the Celestials or Master of Harmony), Windwalker (Conduit of the Celestials or Shado-Pan); Paladin — Holy (Herald of the Sun or Lightsmith), Protection (Lightsmith or Templar), Retribution (Herald of the Sun or Templar); Priest — Discipline (Oracle or Voidweaver), Holy (Archon or Oracle), Shadow (Archon or Voidweaver); Rogue — Assassination (Deathstalker or Fatebound), Outlaw (Fatebound or Trickster), Subtlety (Deathstalker or Trickster); Shaman — Elemental (Farseer or Stormbringer), Enhancement (Stormbringer or Totemic), Restoration (Farseer or Totemic); Warlock — Affliction (Hellcaller or Soul Harvester), Demonology (Diabolist or Soul Harvester), Destruction (Diabolist or Hellcaller); Warrior — Arms (Colossus or Slayer), Fury (Mountain Thane or Slayer), Protection (Colossus or Mountain Thane).
What are Apex talents, and at what level do they unlock?
A 4-point path at the foot of the spec tree, bought as 1 + 2 + 1 ranks; the parts open at levels 81, 84, 90 and need 20 spec points spent. Each spec has its own: Blood Death Knight — Dance of Midnight, Frost Death Knight — Chosen of Frostbrood, Unholy Death Knight — Forbidden Knowledge, Havoc Demon Hunter — Eternal Hunt, Vengeance Demon Hunter — Untethered Rage, Devourer Demon Hunter — Midnight, Balance Druid — Ascendant Eclipses, Feral Druid — Unseen Predator, Guardian Druid — Wild Guardian, Restoration Druid — Everbloom, Devastation Evoker — Rising Fury, Preservation Evoker — Merithra’s Blessing, Augmentation Evoker — Duplicate, Beast Mastery Hunter — Nature’s Ally, Marksmanship Hunter — Take Aim, Survival Hunter — Raptor Swipe, Arcane Mage — Prismatic Bolt, Fire Mage — Fired Up, Frost Mage — Hand of Frost, Brewmaster Monk — Bring Me Another, Mistweaver Monk — Spiritfont, Windwalker Monk — Tigereye Brew, Holy Paladin — Beacon of the Savior, Protection Paladin — Glory of the Vanguard, Retribution Paladin — Light Within, Discipline Priest — Master the Darkness, Holy Priest — Benediction, Shadow Priest — Void Apparitions, Assassination Rogue — Implacable, Outlaw Rogue — Gravedigger, Subtlety Rogue — Ancient Arts, Elemental Shaman — Feedback Loop, Enhancement Shaman — Storm Unleashed, Restoration Shaman — Stormstream Totem, Affliction Warlock — Shadow of Nathreza, Demonology Warlock — Dominion of Argus, Destruction Warlock — Embers of Nihilam, Arms Warrior — Master of Warfare, Fury Warrior — Rampaging Berserker, Protection Warrior — Phalanx.
Why won’t my talent string import?
The game checks the header first. “Bad string”: The text cannot be read as a loadout — a stray character, or a copy cut short. “Serialization version mismatch”: The first field is not the version the game writes now. “Wrong specialization”: The spec ID inside the string is not the spec you have active. “Tree changed”: The tree hash inside the string is not the live tree’s — the tree changed after the string was made. “Import failed”: The game could not apply the loadout. A site may write the hash as zeros; the game then skips its tree check, and may place the wrong talents if the tree has moved.
What talent changes come with 12.1.5?
12.1.5 goes live on Oct 13, 2026. Devourer Demon Hunter: Many talents moved; two leave the crowded final gate for the middle one. Void-Scarred hero talents reworked. Restoration Druid: Nature’s Bounty redesigned. Marksmanship Hunter: Added Blood Fletching. Removed Unload. Holy Priest: Holy Celerity and Ultimate Serenity swapped.
Talent trees: Blizzard’s Game Data API, all 40 specs, read Oct 8 (game build 12.1.0.68914) and re-read within 30 days, as its terms ask — data © Blizzard Entertainment. Sourced too: the ten points of 81–90 and the Apex path (Blizzard), hero pairs and spec IDs (Warcraft Wiki), the string format (Blizzard’s UI code). Added up: the totals at 90 and the level order. The green % on each node and the most common top-key build: GamGem’s count of Blizzard’s Mythic+ leaderboards and character profiles (its week and sample are printed under the trees), no names kept. No simulation, no logs. Your picks, strings and notes stay in this browser.
